  摘要:Urban environments are becoming increasingly important due to the rapid urbanization. Understanding the interaction between urban surfaces and the atmosphere is the fundamental basis for addressing many urban environmental issues such as urban heat islands and for improving our numerical weather and climate models. One of the most important characteristics of urban surfaces is that they are highly heterogeneous. In this presentation, the heterogeneity effect in terms of surface materials or land covers will be discussed. In particular, how to include the heterogeneity effect in numerical models like the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model will be presented. Modifications are made to both the urban canopy model and the Noah land surface model in WRF in order to account for the neighborhood-scale and sub-grid scale heterogeneities.
