Abstract

This presentation will present an overview of research project
undertaken at the Queensland Climate Change of Excellence in area of
climate variability and climate change. The first part of the
presentation will provide a brief introduction to QCCCE and describe
the climate change issues facing Queensland. The second part of
presentation will describe research results from recent projects
undertaken by Climate System Research group at QCCCE.
In particular the presentation will describe the results from the
following research projects:
a) Joint QCCCE/CSIRO modeling contribution to the 5th AR of the IPCC
using the CSIRO Mk 3.6 climate model.
b) The impact of land cover change in Australia on regional climate,
including changes in climate extremes and circulation.
c) Dynamical approach to seasonal climate forecasting using global and
regional models.
d) Impact of stratospheric ozone depletion on the circulation changes
over Southern Hemisphere.
e) Dynamical downscaling of climate change using Conformal Cubic
Atmospheric Model (CCAM).
f) Projection of climate extremes including droughts using AR4 climate
model simulations.
